Miss Teenage Canada Goes to Watch The Miss Universe Canada Pageant

Saturday May 16th: Myself, Michelle – the director of the Miss Teenage Canada pageant, Shawn – the choreographer of the pageants and Deborah – the women in charge of the PR for the pageant, all went down to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to watch the Miss Universe Canada pageant.

I thought it was a fantastic show! Rick Campanelli and a former Miss Universe Canada (and runner up at Miss Universe) hosted the show. It was funny; Rick was so much shorter than all the girls in their heels that he stood on a stool behind the podium while hosting the show.

During the intermission we ran into a familiar face, the director of the Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador pageant, Isabelle Fry. Isabelle is from St. John’s and I had not seen her since I was there in March during the Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador pageant.
Becoming Miss Teen Canada has allowed me to make so many new friends from all around the country. Who knew that I would end up running into a woman I had met in Newfoundland, back in Toronto – small world!

At the end of the tight competition, which included: swimwear and evening gown competitions and the final question and answer, Mariana Valente was crowned the new Miss Universe Canada. I thought it was pretty cool because Mariana also goes to York University.

The contestants were all beautiful and I cannot wait to be up on that stage with them next year competing for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2010.
Maybe even one day I’ll follow in the footsteps of Natalie Glebova and become the third Canadian to win the title of Miss Universe.

I’m a big believer in the saying, “dream big” because if you believe in yourself there’s nothing you can’t do!
