A Gold Medal Work Out

As the Miss Teenage Canada 2010 finals week continues to unfold, new and exciting adventures await the contestants each day. By now it is safe to say that this year’s MTC-W delegates have been taking the streets of Toronto by storm! While thousands of commuters were on their way to work on Wednesday morning, the Miss Teenage Canada 2010 finalists had the incredible opportunity of training with World Champion Gold Medalist and Canadian Olympic Team Sprinter, Okiki Akinremi.

Trinity Bellwoods, a landmark park in downtown Toronto and one of the trendiest hang out spots in the heart of the city was the natural choice for the site of the Wednesday morning work out. Birds were chirping, the sun was beating down and the MTC-W troupe got the chance to nurture their minds, bodies and souls with a thorough work out. Suffice it to say, seeing 70 girls wearing sashes in the park on a weekday morning was quite the site; the MTC-W team attracted several high fives, a small crowd and many inquisitive pedestrians with warm wishes for the competition on Saturday!

Working with Okiki was an absolute joy and it is safe to say that the finalists learned a lot in their hour-long work session with him. Okiki’s contagious energy and spirit got the girls pumped up and motivated for the rest of their busy week. The contestants were, as always, excited, upbeat and positive throughout the thorough exercise despite the sun’s warm rays making an early start. And although the work out was at time grueling, the girls persevered and gave it their best, just like we knew they would. After all – no pain no gain, right ladies?

A special thanks to the ladies at Duet PR for helping us arrange this unforgettable morning, Okiki Akinremi for participating and being such a fun and enthusiastic motivator and the team at Frank Ideas and Execution for their coverage of the event.
